NRM Rallies Ahead of 2026 Elections

The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) is ramping up its political groundwork across Uganda as it prepares for the 2026 general elections. President Yoweri Museveni is currently engaged in regional tours, notably in the Bukedi sub-region, to mobilise party faithful and address development issues directly, reinforcing the NRM's grassroots presence. These strategic rallies aim to preempt opposition inroads and solidify the party's traditional support base through direct engagement with local leaders and communities.

In parallel with the President’s tours, the NRM is strengthening its political machinery at the lowest administrative levels, specifically delegating increased mobilisation responsibilities to village-level structures. This grassroots focus is a long-standing tactic of the NRM designed to ensure effective voter turnout and party allegiance across the country, highlighting the party's commitment to maintaining its political dominance in the upcoming electoral cycle.
