Inaugural Omusinga Birthday Run Kicks Off Coronation Celebrations

Thousands of runners participate in the first-ever Omusinga Birthday Run on Friday, November 14, 2025, in Kasese district. This sporting event, held in conjunction with the 59th Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty King Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma of the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Kingdom, saw over 2,500 people register for the 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km races.

The core purpose of the Omusinga Birthday Run is to serve as a crucial fundraising drive for the Kingdom’s development initiatives, aligning with the recently launched Rwenzururu Kingdom Strategic Development Plan. Funds generated from the race will be channelled directly into high-priority community projects aimed at uplifting the people and preserving heritage.

The celebrations this evening will be a royal thanksgiving service, held at Nyakasanga Playground, followed by an evening birthday party, a cake-cutting ceremony at Rwenzori Square, and a musical concert. The sheer magnitude of participation in the inaugural run establishes sports as an increasingly vital component of the Kingdom’s cultural calendar, reflecting an approach to community engagement, unity, and resource mobilisation in support of the Omusinga's vision for the development and prosperity of the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu.
